Sparkling Joy!

Woman looking up at Christmas lights

For me it's children, animals and watching people laugh. These are a few of my favorite things! They bring me joy unending. At this Christmas scene pictured here, I couldn't believe my camera was causing the lights to look like they were moving. My sister Arlene and her friend Peggy were also taking this picture with no resulting blurry lights on their cameras. It just struck me funny and I started into that dangerous kind of laughing. The side-splitting, uncontrollable kind.

God has blessed me with a sense of humor and the giggles. I know this gift has been a life-saver through my years of heartache with infertility, Sean's cancer, and raising special needs children. This gift has protected my health.

Shortly after Sean moved out, Russ and I became enveloped with times of uncontrollable laughter. It takes very little to set one of us off. If my husband starts to lose it, I'm a goner too. If I say something with a certain tone of voice, he explodes with spirals of laughter. After we endured years of frustration from meltdowns with Sean, we now have been experiencing an opposite edition of emotions. It's hard to describe to people. But I know the Lord is giving Russ and I a season of laughter and joy for our spiritual, emotional and physical healing.

Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, which promotes a sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. Laughter decreases your stress hormones and strengthens your immune system. If you can't find anything to laugh about, just visit Facebook. Inevitably there is something cute or funny. A while back on Facebook, I was watching this poor woman who was stuck behind her newly installed dryer. For her to climb over the dryer to get out was a major ordeal.

The whole incident sent me into that side-splitting laughter and tears of joy! For some sparkling joy today, I've posted that video for you...

My prayer for each one of you in 2018 is the gift of laughter and sparkling joy!

"A merry heart does good like medicine". Proverbs 15:13
